PHILIPS for Mother and Child Care

Recently I attended the PHILIPS’ product launch event. Amazing inventions! They have outdone themselves with the range of health care solutions for mother and infants! That they are number 1 in ‘lighting’ and ‘personal care’ is a well known fact; with this new range of neonatal care products PHILIPS going to prove a be a tough competitor for others in the field of health care.

Faces of India - 116

I was desperately trying to get the vegetable seller’s attention to get a decent click. A buyer there noticed my desperation immediately he sportingly picked up a cauliflower and posed for me. So sweet of him, no?

Shot taken near Shimla while on our trip to Kufri.

Painted Storks

These shots are from my archives. A ‘painted stork’ soaring the skies. I turned my camera this way that way to get the compositions different. These birds visit the water bodies around Bangalore. I try to visit them every year but this year it hasn’t happened yet! I am making myself happy seeing these old shots. Hope you all like them.

My Little Garden

My garden plants decided to spread some happiness! Many of them conspired together to do some good for a change. They decided to bloom together. My balcony is a small area 6t by 10ft with pots arranged along the edges. I am not very regular in tending them, except watering them regularly there is no other effort from my side. Once in a while one of them decide to bloom, but this June month has

Wat Chang Lom, Sukhothai, Thailand

Situated outside the Sukhothai city limits is a beautiful Wat, the Wat Chang Lom (temple surrounded by elephants) of 14th century. It has a special place in my memory because of the beautiful elephants lined up around the base of the Wat. There are 32 of them! Not all were in good shape. Many have crumbled and some forms are on the verge of disappearing. The whole site was neat, lot of vacant

Everyday Battle With Stray Cattle

This post is based on challenges you face on Bangalore roads.

Have you been late to office? If yes, did you feel like blaming a cow for it or goats or may be ducks? Bangalore roads are famous for one way roads, specially devised plans to avoid traffic chaos, but not much has been done on cattle front. One still faces the challenges posed by the dumb bovines at peak hours of traffic. To get

Disneyland Ride

Big Thunder Mountain: How does that name sound to you? Probably you are wondering what that could be! It is one of the most thrilling and wildest rides in Paris Disneyland. Does the name sound challenging to you now?

It was a lengthy queue as we approached the Big Thunder Mountain ride. I saw this as an opportunity to turn away from there. “Oh! This is going to take long, come let us see some

World's Highest Cricket Ground, Chail

This week’s Thursday challenge theme is ‘Outdoors’, so here is a post on playgrounds for the theme. This playground is no ordinary one; it is the world’s highest cricket ground! The statistics is amazing, this ground is at an altitude of 2,444m! Imagine a hill being slashed, its top flattened out... that is how the ground was made. It was done under the instructions of the Maharaja of Patiala

Pani Puri Eating Competition

Some time back me and a couple of friends had a small competition It was : who would finish drinking the tender coconut water first. Three of us started at the same time and I won the race, but then my friends told me my coconut must have had very less water and theirs had more, so I could win easily. What ever! We had a good laugh over it and each of relished the challenge.

The Temple Elephant

Seeking blessings from them on whom you have faith shouldn’t be difficult, no?

Well, I found it difficult! I had lot of faith on Him! I knew He would transform all my wishes to reality, yet I was afraid. I was scared of approaching Him.

The “Him” in this case was a mammoth elephant! He was a temple elephant. People had queued up to seek his blessings. All I had to do was place a 5 rupee coin

Dendrobium Phalaenopsis

Update from my balcony garden: the Dendrobium Phalaenopsis variety of orchid has bloomed. The stick is two weeks old, three have bloomed, three still in their ‘bud’ stage. I decided not to cut the stick. I want to see how long the plant holds the flowers fresh. Once cut they last for just a month in a vase before it wilts away.

Sky Watching Statues

Can you guess where these shots were taken?

These shots were taken on the roof top of Milan cathedral. If you are ever there don't miss the visit to roof top of the cathedral. You can take lift to top (12euros) or the staircase (not free). Breath taking sights!
